Deep, generously scrolled arms curve inward to a loose, box-edged back cushion and a plump seat cushion, all raised on gently turned bun feet in the manner favoured by 19th-century English cabinetmakers. The frame is finished in a rose chintz stripe - alternating bands of powder blue and ivory scattered with bouquets of blush and crimson roses - a pattern language drawn from the English textile tradition long associated with country-house florals.
