Period Inspiration:
In 1930s Bombay, the Backbay Reclamation opened new ground along the Arabian Sea, and a distinct architectural dialect rose along it - Art Deco imported from Paris, then rebuilt in monsoon-ready curves, projecting canopies, and porthole windows. UNESCO now calls the result Indo-Deco: a confident, adapted style built by a city remaking itself. The Bombay Deco Club Sofa carries that same instinct for adaptation into upholstered form.
Its silhouette belongs to the softened, sensuous club sofa the Deco decades produced for hotel lobbies and transatlantic liners - deep-scrolled arms rolling forward into carved teak volutes, a single low row of button tufting across the back rather than a Chesterfield's full diamond grid, and a loose bench seat cushion finished in self-piping. The exposed frame, hand-turned and reeded at the feet, is worked entirely in solid teak at our Bengaluru workshop - the same Anglo-Indian lineage of craft that has long translated European and Asian period forms for Indian homes.
Upholstered in a rich gold velvet, this two-seater settee anchors a living room, library, or entry hall with quiet authority - built to outlast trend cycles entirely. Furniture as heirloom, not commodity.
