Period Inspiration:
Named for Denmark's mainland peninsula - home to century-old furniture houses and host to a Nordic furniture exhibition running since 1910 - the Jutland Teak Case Sofa channels the manufacturing tradition that stood alongside Copenhagen's Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibitions (1927–1966) in shaping Danish Modern design.
This three-seater sofa is fully cased in teak along its back and sides, a construction method that puts the timber's rich, oiled grain on display rather than hiding it under upholstery. Three loose seat and back cushions, plus two accent pillows, are dressed in a natural woven fabric, while the frame stands on tapered dowel legs finished in polished brass sabots - the same hardware detail that swept American design following the 1954–57 Design in Scandinavia museum tour.
Genuine teak - historically sourced from Southeast Asia's forests and prized by mid-century Danish designers for its natural resistance to moisture and wear - makes this teak wood sofa as durable as it is handsome. A statement piece for a mid-century modern living room, Scandinavian-style study, or any space built around Danish modern furniture.
