Kent has been called the Garden of England since the seventeenth century, its orchards and hop gardens shaping a county synonymous with cultivated ease - the same unhurried comfort this sofa brings indoors. Its low, outward-rolled arms and loose three-cushion back define the English roll-arm sofa, also traded as the Bridgewater, a form that took hold in nineteenth-century Britain as interiors turned from formal display toward domestic comfort. The deeply gathered flounce skirt follows period convention exactly: concealing the legs entirely, a dressmaker's treatment that carried the softness of the garden room into the Victorian parlour. 

Its rose-and-cream even stripe belongs to a documented textile lineage - woven first in Bengal and carried into British fashion during the Regency, where the same pattern is catalogued as the Regency stripe, pink among its recorded colourways. Piping and railroaded stripe-matching run continuously across arm, back, and skirt. Executed by master craftsmen, in the lineage of the English country house original rather than a direct reproduction, this three-seat parlour sofa suits a living room, garden room, or sunroom wanting that gathered, unmistakably English silhouette.
