Period Inspiration:

A single-ended chaise longue in the lineage of the Victorian drawing-room and boudoir chaise - the chaise longue, French for “long chair,” descends from the Regency revival of the antique couch and became, by the mid-nineteenth century, a fixture of the well-appointed English interior. This piece takes its name from Simla, declared the summer capital of British India in 1864, and from the morning-room, the household’s daytime sitting room, where correspondence was written and the day’s quieter business conducted.

The design holds a gathered scroll arm at the head, a cyma-curved back easing toward an open foot, and turned teak wood baluster legs - proportions squarely within the Victorian single-ended chaise tradition. Upholstered in a large-scale sage green and ivory check - a country-house styling - the piece suits a reading room, boudoir, bedroom, or drawing room. A luxury handmade chaise longue, made as an heirloom rather than a commodity: built to be kept, and passed on.
