Period Inspiration:
Born in the twilight of colonial Ceylon, where tropical winds whispered through ebony forests and verandas glowed with lantern light, The Ceylonese Cane & Ebony Sitting Suite stands as a revival of an almost-forgotten island nobility.
Each silhouette - low, sweeping, and sinuously curved - echoes the refined aesthetic of 19th-century Ceylonese craftsmanship. The frames are adorned with floral and foliate motifs that bloom like relief sculptures, ornamentation once prized by colonial elite families across Colombo, Galle, and Kandy.
The generously curved cane panels are woven in traditional hexagonal lattice, an art that travelled from South Indian cane guilds to the royal ateliers of Ceylon. Their warm honey tone contrasts exquisitely with the polished noir frame, creating a visual tension that feels both aristocratic and contemporary.
Gracefully arched legs, scrolling arms, and carved crests complete the composition - each element a testament to the Indo-European fusion style that defined Ceylon’s grand plantation homes and judicial bungalows.
This is not merely furniture. It is heritage made tangible, a suite that carries within it the quiet dignity of a bygone archipelago.
