Period Inspiration:
The Chicago Century Art Deco Bed draws inspiration from the design language presented at the 1933–34 Century of Progress International Exposition in Chicago - a landmark event that defined American Art Deco’s architectural boldness and geometric clarity.
Its tiered headboard silhouette evokes the stylised fan and stepped forms frequently seen in Deco façades, theatre interiors, and luxury furnishings of the interwar period. The vertically rising upholstered panels create a disciplined sunburst composition, a motif widely adopted in American Deco design to symbolise optimism and forward momentum. The structured base maintains rectilinear restraint, grounding the sculptural headboard with architectural stability.
While incorporating contemporary storage functionality, the composition remains faithful to 1925–1935 Deco principles: symmetry, geometric layering, and material presence over applied ornament. This is a historically informed interpretation of Chicago-era Art Deco, translated into a refined bedroom statement with sculptural authority.
