Graceful in silhouette and refined in execution, The Verdure Canapé of Lyon draws upon the enduring vocabulary of the French Louis XV Revival tradition. Its serpentine crest rail, flowing exposed teak frame, and cabriole legs reflect the asymmetrical elegance that emerged in eighteenth-century France and was later revived by master ébénistes during the nineteenth century. Upholstered in luminous olive-green velvet, the canapé evokes the verdant tones of formal French gardens, creating a striking dialogue between sculpted teak and rich textile.

The enveloping arms sweep seamlessly into a shaped back, while the exposed showwood frame highlights the cabinetmaker's attention to proportion and movement. The gently bowed seat and intimate scale were conceived for conversation salons, drawing rooms, and private interiors where comfort and artistry held equal importance.
