A refined example of mid-19th century Anglo-Indian craftsmanship, this carved Teak armchair reflects the sophisticated synthesis of Bombay Presidency workshop traditions with the enduring influence of English Regency design. Executed in richly grained Teak, the chair displays scrolled arms, a shaped back, and restrained yet articulate proportions, hallmarks of Regency lineage adapted for colonial interiors.

The crest rail is distinguished by finely carved foliate and lotus motifs, indicative of Indian artisanal vocabulary, while the caned seat and back respond to the climatic demands of the subcontinent - offering both ventilation and structural resilience. The cabriole legs terminating in paw feet further underscore the cross-cultural dialogue between British formality and local interpretation.
