Evoking the refined interiors of 18th-century France, the Château de Chantilly Louis XV Writing Bureau Set draws from the Rococo idiom that flourished under the reign of Louis XV (circa 1725–1770). Defined by its sinuous cabriole legs, asymmetrical cartouches, and sculptural shell motifs, the desk reflects the movement’s departure from rigid classicism toward fluidity and ornament.

The serpentine apron is richly adorned with acanthus and rocaille carving, finished in a soft ivory tone with restrained gilded highlights - an interpretation of traditional bois doré. The top is inset with a green leather writing surface, historically associated with French bureau plats, offering both tactility and visual contrast. Twin drawers, fitted with delicate brass mounts, reinforce its functional elegance.

The accompanying chair continues the Rococo vocabulary, with a balloon back, hand-carved cresting, and cabriole legs. Upholstered in deep green tufted leather with nailhead trim, it reflects the marriage of comfort and ornament that defined aristocratic seating of the period.

Together, the ensemble recalls the cultivated taste of the Condé court at Chantilly - where furniture was conceived not merely for utility, but as an extension of architectural and decorative harmony.
