A restrained study in structure and proportion, The Compass-Leg Tray Table draws its lineage from the mid-20th century modernist furniture language associated with Pierre Jeanneret, developed during the post-independence architectural program of India. Rather than ornament, the emphasis here lies in clarity of construction, material honesty, and functional intent.

Executed in solid wood, the table is defined by its distinctive compass (inverted “V”) legs, a structural motif closely aligned with Jeanneret’s design vocabulary. These supports are not decorative but declarative - articulating load, balance, and geometry with precision. The tray-form top, with raised edges, reinforces utility, recalling the pragmatic adaptability seen in civic and residential furniture of the period.

The surface reveals the natural wood grain, uninterrupted and deliberately expressed, in keeping with modernist principles that privileged authenticity over embellishment. Joinery is kept visually quiet, allowing proportion and silhouette to carry the composition.
