Period Inspiration:
In 1928, at the Bauhaus school in Dessau, Germany, Hungarian-born architect Marcel Breuer conceived the B32 - a cantilevered dining chair of tubular steel and woven Vienna cane that MoMA curator Cara McCarty would later declare "among the ten most important chairs of the twentieth century." Its radical form, dispensing with rear legs entirely, gave the chair a spring and lightness no four-legged design could match. The Dessau Emerald Cantilever Dining Set honours that lineage across six chairs - dark gunmetal tubular steel curved in a single fluid arc, seats and backs woven in natural rattan cane - gathered around a table whose surface carries an equally ancient story.
The tabletop is finished in Zellige inspired glazed emerald tiles. Zellige is the terracotta tile tradition born in Fez, Morocco, where artisans have shaped clay in wood-burning kilns since the 10th century, reaching its zenith under the Marinid dynasty in the 13th–15th centuries. The dark steel base unifies Bauhaus minimalism with Maghrebi splendour. A 6-seater dining set that opens a dialogue between two of history's great craft traditions, across eight centuries and two continents.
