A refined interpretation of Luso-Indian craftsmanship, The Fontainhas Indo-Portuguese Dining Suite draws from the enduring furniture traditions shaped along the western coast of India under Portuguese influence from the 16th century onward. Named after Fontainhas, a district known for its preserved Indo-Portuguese residences, the ensemble reflects a confluence of Iberian form and tropical adaptation.

The dining table, executed in solid teak, features turned and fluted legs - an inheritance from Portuguese baroque vocabulary, simplified through Goan craftsmanship into a more restrained, vernacular expression. The chairs incorporate natural cane panels, a material response to climate, allowing ventilation while maintaining structural integrity. Their gently scalloped crest rails and grounded proportions echo the hybrid aesthetic that defined Goan domestic interiors across centuries.

This is not a literal reproduction but a studied revival - faithful to material, proportion, and cultural context. It represents a lineage where European form met Indian craftsmanship, resulting in furniture that is both enduring and regionally specific.
