A single unbroken line, drawn from headrest to footrest without one hard edge: this chaise longue belongs to the American wave-form tradition that emerged from small Pennsylvania furniture workshops in the late 1950s, when a generation of self-taught modernists began shaping furniture the way sculptors shape bronze - by curve, never by corner. It is a Susquehanna Valley form, born of postwar Atomic Age optimism, when flowing, biomorphic silhouettes replaced the rectilinear caution of the prewar decades.

The Collectors reads this lineage through its own workshop grammar. Where the American originals were carved in black walnut, this piece is worked entirely in solid teak by master craftsmen - an Anglo-Indian translation of an American form, built on the same principle: comfort rendered as sculpture. Seat and back are fully button-tufted in a disciplined biscuit grid, upholstered in a rich chartreuse velvet that catches light along every channel. Four slender, sharply raked legs, cross-splayed at the front in the manner of the era’s finest studio furniture, lift the piece into visible tension.
