In districts such as Montparnasse - long associated with artists, architects, and avant-garde culture - furniture began evolving from the ornamented geometry of Art Deco toward the quieter architectural clarity of modernist salons.

This sofa reflects that historical shift. Its architectural box arms and disciplined silhouette echo the streamlined forms that emerged during the Art Moderne movement, while the button-tufted interior back recalls the upholstered elegance of earlier Deco salon seating.
