The Montparnasse Modernist Salon Ensemble exemplifies the refined upholstery traditions that defined Parisian interiors between the wars. Comprising a three-seat sofa and a pair of matching armchairs, the set is conceived as a unified sculptural composition rather than a collection of independent objects.

The defining gesture is the enveloping, crescent-shaped backrest, articulated through deep vertical channeling. This treatment lends both structural rhythm and tactile depth, creating a play of light across the upholstered surface that recalls the fluting of contemporary architectural façades. The softly rounded arms flow seamlessly into the back, reinforcing the sense of continuity that distinguished French modernist seating from earlier salon furniture.

Upholstery is treated as architecture. The seating appears carved rather than assembled, its volume carefully balanced on discreet, tapered wooden legs that lift the mass just enough to preserve visual lightness.
