Such furniture was produced for affluent residential interiors in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a district known for commissioning discreetly luxurious salon furnishings rather than avant-garde modernism.

The piece is defined by its oval upholstered back, framed in polished hardwood and outlined with brass nailhead trim, a detail characteristic of high-quality Parisian upholstery work. The exposed wooden structure - visible along the crest rail, arms, and seat apron - reflects a lingering classical sensibility, while the tightened proportions and unified upholstery anticipate the composure of Art Deco interiors.
